Review Policy

Updated: 4/06/15
Status: At this stage, only accepting from Publishers.

This blog was started just for fun.  I figured since I read ALOT I wanted to keep a list of what I've read, my TBR pile and my thoughts and feelings on each book.  I'm an Australian blogger!

Book Genre's Accepted
  • Young Adult
  • Paranormal Romance
  • Fantasy/Urban Fantasy
  • Dystopian
  • Speculative Fiction/ Sci Fi (eg. Ashes by Ilsa J. Bick)
  • Middlegrade Fantasy
I do read a wide variety which include other genre's like horror and adult fiction but mainly stick to the above genres.  It's not to say that other genres won't pop up on Spellbound By Books at some point or another.

Book Genre's Not Accepted:
  • Erotica
  • Non Fiction: Autobiographies/Biographies/Memoirs
  • Historical Fiction
Book Formats Accepted:
  • Bound books (Hard cover, softcover etc)
  • ARCS/Uncorrected Proof Copies
  • eBooks
As a general rule, I hate to read a series out of order.  If you have sent through a review request of a book that's part of a series I haven't read, I would normally ask for you to provide any books previous to this.  I am hesitant to start a book if there are more than two books previously published.

I do accept eBooks for review, but I will be honest, bound books/hard copies will take precedence over ebooks.  It takes me longer to read an eBook then it does a bound copy.  Deadlines will also be taken into account as well.

I am not a professional reviewer and am not paid for my opinions.  I do this for the love of it plain and simple.

My reviews will be honest and if I don't like your book I will do my best to pick out the good points as well as the ones that I felt didn't work for me.  I will not post a purely negative review, but will do my best to point out what did and didn't work for me.  I will not post a review on a book that I did not finished.

Interviews/Guest Posts/Blog Tours
I'm more than happy to host Authors/Characters for an interview, guest post or a stop on a blog tour.

If you're interested in doing an author interview, I do request that a copy of your novel be sent with ample time to read before the questions need to be submitted.

I'm more than happy to host a giveaway on Spellbound By Books.  I do prefer to have read the authors work before hand but this is not always necessary if I've dealt with you before.

Before submitting your review request, please note:

  • That my reviews will be honest to my opinion and will not be changed upon requests
  • It takes time to review your title.  I will do my best to makes sure reviews are posted as close to the release date as I can if I haven't given you a specific date.
  • I prefer to have read and reviewed your book first before doing an interview or guest post.  Sometimes I do make exceptions to this.
  • I try to respond to all emails in a timely manner but sometimes I can't always get back to you.  If you haven't received an email from me within a week, chances are I'm probably not interested in accepting the book.
  • That I hold the right to reschedule my review to a later date (I'll let you know ASAP if this happens) and hold the right to decline posting my review on my blog if I did not enjoy it.
