Survey: Have you seen the movie before reading the book?

This is one I've always struggled with.  My ultimate goal is to always read the book first before the movie, because lets face it, more often than not the book wins out!  The book is more in depth, and holds alot more than what a movie can fit in.  Plus a movie caters for the wider audience so will sometimes stray a little from the storyline of the book.

In saying this, the last few movies I've seen, I haven't read the books to it.  Fifty Shades Darker (and to top it off I watched it out of order too... the horror? ) and The Longest Ride.  Both extremely awesome movies, and because of these movies, I now want to read the books! Before, I had no intention of touching anything in this genre so I really think in times like this it's kind of a good thing to branch out sometimes.

So I'm curious with others out there.  Please enter the survey below telling me about your reading / watching tastes!

MBOB: Fifty Shades Darker

*This post may have affiliate links
I'll admit I'm very late to this party!  I never watched the first movie or read the books.  I tend to shy away from the latest fad for the simple fact that I don't want to go in with the high hopes that this is going to be fantastic because "Everyone said so," and be let down.  But a friend roped me in to go see Fifty Shades Darker and I reluctantly said yes. I'm not one to watch or read things out of order but I did this time, and I have to admit that for me it was better to watch the second one first.  I admit I went home and watched Fifty Shades of Grey straight after, and things made a lot more sense.  So now I am moving onto the books!  Plus, we are definitely booked in to watch Fifty Shades Freed next year!

Fifty Shades Darker (Fifty Shades, #2)Synopsis
Daunted by the singular sexual tastes and dark secrets of the beautiful, tormented young entrepreneur Christian Grey, Anastasia Steele has broken off their relationship to start a new career with a Seattle publishing house. But desire for Christian still dominates her every waking thought, and when he proposes a new arrangement, Anastasia cannot resist. They rekindle their searing sensual affair, and Anastasia learns more about the harrowing past of her damaged, driven, and demanding Fifty Shades. While Christian wrestles with his inner demons, Anastasia must confront her anger and envy of the women who came before her and make the most important decision of her life. Erotic, sparkling and suspenseful, Fifty Shades Darker is the irresistibly addictive second part of the Fifty Shades trilogy.

Tv Shows Based on Books: Riverdale

*This post may contain affiliate links.

Admittedly, if it weren't for my workmate I probably wouldn't have been steered in the direction of Riverdale.  So I'm glad she did, thanks Skye.  I haven't read any of the comics, and I'm not sure I will, but if you have heard of Archie, Veronica, Bettie and Juggs and / or you've read the comics, check out Riverdale.
I was a little disappointed that they only release one episode of week, and as of today there are just 2 episodes out because when I sat in front of my screen yesterday morning, I swear I could have binged on it, it was that good.  Admittedly it may not be everyones cup of tea but I recommend giving it a go.  It's on Australia's Netflix if you are keen.

If you are interested in checking out the comics, it seems there are two versions.  The originals, and a remake which I'd say would tie into the Riverdale series.

I love the characers, especiually  Jugghead though he's only really in the background narrating the story, I hope we get to see more of him in the coming episodes as he's an interesting character and one I'd like to hear more about.  I also can't help but compare Veronica in Riverdale to Hayley from The Originals.  The resemblence is uncanny!

So if you have been watching this, let me know in the comments.  I'd love to hear your thoughts.
