Reyna Montoya, a.k.a. Black Widow, is a top assassin. She’s good at what she does and gets the job done with precision. However, the recurring nightmare of seeing her parents murdered when she was sixteen in Cuba is a constant reminder of her ultimate plan… to find the killer and avenge her parents.
Nicolas Vargas fled Cuba with her after the murder, vowing to take care of her and help keep her safe. He is a self-taught computer genius and chemist and her best friend. After more than fifteen years of working closely together, the unrequited sexual tension between them is getting harder and harder to ignore. Would it ruin their friendship or make their bond stronger? However, Reyna is torn. Viper, Black Widow’s handler, is hot as hell and the sparks between them could burn them both.
As Reyna gets closer to her parents’ killer the distraction of two men is dangerous, and the true identity of the murderer could destroy them all.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Marlene Sanchez was born in New York and raised in Miami. Her family and friends are an important part of her life, a constant inspiration, and keep her motivated to succeed in pursuing her dream. She has had a passion for writing since her ninth grade English teacher put it all into perspective for her. “Write how you speak and write what you know.” She credits her teacher every chance she gets for giving her a love of writing!
Marlene writes mystery/suspense with a sprinkle of romance. Her love of crime and legal dramas, and of course The Godfather, has opened her eyes to the wonderful world of mystery/suspense. The action and thrill is what keeps her fingers gliding across the keyboard, as her brain explodes with ideas about the next unfortunate victim.
She is a strong, independent woman because her Cuban mother raised her right. Her main characters embrace that same attitude; strong Cuban American women that take no “caca” from anyone.
Marlene has a couple of books under her belt, with several in the works to release in 2014. She hopes to someday be a household name, at least in her own home if nowhere else. She just wants her sons to be proud of her, that’s reward enough… Yeah right, she wants the fame and fortune too.

Disharmony: Immortal Combat by Leah Giarratano

Stand Alone/Series:  Disharmony #3

Synopsis:
A war that will end the world or save it . . .
The prophesied war is raging. Luke's destiny is unstoppable, Sam's losses and powers are unravelling her mind, and Jake's family secrets put the whole world in peril. And that's before the darkest warlock of all time makes his first move on the chessboard. A move he's planned for centuries . . .

My Thoughts:
Immortal Combat is the last book in the Disharmony Trilogy and while I looked forward to seeing how Leah tied up the end of this series I was kind of disappointed by the ending.

I liked how she has progressed Luke, Jake and Sam's powers up to what they are and I was looking at Immortal Combat being the ultimate awesome finish but I guess it lacked the POW! that a final book should have at the final crucial moment.  It just didn't capture me.

We find out more of what each character can do in this book and seen what happens when powers emerge when each main character is not quite ready for it.  We are also introduced to the final players in the game that we have only heard snippets of in the previous two books.

I couldn't help but cheer Luke on in this novel.  He always seems to be the underdog and being the "Psychopath" doesn't always give him a good Rep!  I also loved the interactions between Luke and his sister Arabella who was a failed psychopath.  They stood out against the rest of the group but somehow I kept thinking Arabella might have played the psychopath better than Luke but I favoured him ultimately.

I would like to see more of Leah Giarratano's work as she has got some really awesome writing I just

The Savannah Coven Series Blog Tour Stop

October, Baby!

Three things make October my favorite:
1) My birthday 2) The arrival of crisp cool weather 3) (and this is the biggie) Halloween!

Book 7 of the
Savannah Coven Series

Now, I’ve heard it said that people who love the feeling of being scared are just “wired differently.” Well, that’s okay with me, because I love it! There’s nothing like holding your breath and waiting to see what’s behind that creaky door. Or what’s in the bushes, circling you as it growls your death.

And don’t get me started on the candy. I have to have my husband hide the bag and ration out a few pieces a day! (I’m not kidding.)

My home turns into a scarier place than most haunted houses, and with three cats running around, the creepy scene is my version of Better Homes & Gardens.

I’m sure my love of the spooky side and all things supernatural are why I write paranormal. Losing myself in the story is almost like watching a good horror movie.

That’s probably why I went a little darker with the seventh book of the Savannah coven series, “Suffering Of a Witch.” I think the story is a fitting release for October!

But until then, what’s your favorite thing this autumn month? And if you love scary movies like I do, please comment and make a recommendation!

Prize Time!!
One commenter will be chosen at random and will receive a prize package containing two signed books.  One book will be from another romance author who signed at this year's RWA conference and one from me.  Each package will also contain swag from various authors!

Waiting On Wednesday (144)

Waiting On Wednesday was created by Jill over at Breaking The Spine. It's a weekly post for you to share what upcoming books you can't wait for!

I can't wait to get my hands on Sick by Tom Leveen which will be out the 1st of October 2013! Which happens to be today! Buy Sick on Book Depository )

Synopsis
Breakfast Club meets The Walking Dead as a group of unlikely allies tries to survive a deadly outbreak.

Brian and his friends are not part of the cool crowd. They’re the misfits and the troublemakers—the ones who jump their high school’s fence to skip class regularly. So when a deadly virus breaks out, they’re the only ones with a chance of surviving.

The virus turns Brian’s classmates and teachers into bloodthirsty attackers who don’t die easily. The whole school goes on lockdown, but Brian and his best friend, Chad, are safe (and stuck) in the theater department—far from Brian’s sister, Kenzie, and his ex-girlfriend with a panic attack problem, Laura. Brian and Chad, along with some of the theater kids Brian had never given the time of day before, decide to find the girls and bring them to the safety of the theater. But it won’t be easy, and it will test everything they thought they knew about themselves and their classmates.

What are you waiting on?
