Synopsis:
WE ARE THE LAST DEFENCE.
I've seen him on the news. Followed the stories about what happened to John Smith. To the world he's a mystery, but to me . . . he's one of us. Nine of us came here, but sometimes I wonder if time has changed us, if we all still believe in our mission.
There are six of us left. We're hiding, blending in, avoiding contact with one another, but our Legacies are developing and soon we'll be ready to fight. Is John Number Four - and is his appearance the sign I've been waiting for? And what about Number Five and Six? Could one of them be the raven-haired girl with the stormy eyes from my dreams? The girl with powers that are beyond anything I could ever imagine? The girl who might be strong enough to bring the six of us together?
THEY CAUGHT NUMBER ONE IN MALAYSIA
NUMBER TWO IN ENGLAND.
AND NUMBER THREE IN KENYA.
THEY TRIED TO CATCH NUMBER FOUR IN OHIO . . . AND FAILED.
I AM NUMBER SEVEN.
AND I'M READY TO FIGHT.
My Thoughts:
I thoroughly enjoyed reading I am Number Four and I was really lucky that Penguin had sent me a copy of The Power of Six so I could keep reading!

When I started reading this I knew I was going to be introduced to a new character 'Number Seven' and while it took me a little to warm up to them I was happy to find at chapter three I was reading John Smith's POV again.  I think with the alternating POV I flew through this book alot quicker than I would have with just Seven's story.

With John, Six and Sam on the run now there is an underlying urgency to keep ahead of the law and the Mogadorians and just when you think something big is going to happen, BANG change of POV.  I think Pittacus Lore has done a brilliant job of keeping the reader in suspense and I know that those tense moments at the end of the chapters or that urgency to know more kept me reading well into the early hours of the morning just to find out what happened next.

I also like how there is more revealed about the Lorien history and more backstory of each character thrown in, as well as the reasoning for why some characters have made the choices they have.  The one thing that has thrown me is the use of Pittacus Lore in the story.  One of the elders is named that and while it's not an unusual name, having the author named that as well kinda puts a bit of a kink in the story.

I also love Bernie Kosar!  Thanks to the I am Number Four it's a lot easier to picture the beasts and chimera that are in both stories.

The Power of Six is an action packed read with some shocking twists, including a few not so pleasant surprises and an ending that will leave you NEEDING to know more!

Bring on the next book!
