New Edition to the Family.

Hi all.

As you have guessed, my birthday is today and I'm the big TWO SIX!  Since my cat went missing a few months ago I've been talking about getting another one.  I do have a Staffy cross, Mischief (pictured right), whose at my parents at the moment since we don't have the fencing done yet on the yard.

So, today being my birthday and my other half didn't buy me anything (Which I had told him a few days beforehand not to worry about it) he brings up the puppies we were looking at a few weeks ago.  Mind you, I couldn't sway him then that Mischief needed a friend.

Anyways to cut a long story short.  We went to visit the people who had only two left, and I now have a second dog LOL. She's a bitzer.  Get this, the Mother is an Alaskan Malamute x Husky, Dad's a Staffy x Mastiff x Labrador (The Owner isn't entirely sure .. so this is more of a guess really) and here is the result:

She's only around 9 weeks old and was the runt of the litter!  She's fairly quiet and from what I've been told she's a climber.  Apparently she's climbed all the way up the top of the owners screen door. LOL.  Because she is getting her needles tomorrow I don't actually pick her up until tomorrow afternoon so I have all this time to actually think of a name.

Here is where I ask all of you bookaholics for some help.  For a change I'm looking for a character name from a book to name this cute little mut.  So far the only animal names that come to mind are Manchee (The Knife of Never Letting Go) Termagant (Master of the Books) and Chet (Dog On It)

If you have a name that you would like to suggest please PLEASE comment below.  I'm really hoping to find a good one but it doesn't have to be limited to just the animals in books, it could be any character names that you've thought 'that's awesome!'  If you could let me know which book you got it from that would be good too!

Or if you have a name to suggest that isn't in a book but you think is fitting.  Please feel free to suggest that too.

If you haven't noticed I tend to take a long time picking names for my pets since I'm after the perfect one lol.

  1. First of all: Happy Birthday Melissa!! :-D woohoo! :-)

Then: She's soo cute! :-D Adorable! It's a pity you have already one Mischief, because it would suit the little one too, she looks so mischievious :-D

Just one name comes to my mind right now: Fluffy (from Harry Potter, it was one of Hagrid's dogs), but there were so many animal names in that series, amybe you could find some other good ones.

Congrats again on the little girl, can't wait to hear stories how Cruzito will love and play with her :-D

Happy Birthday againa nd I hope you had a wonderful day :-) Hugs!

  2. Oh gosh, Annabeth from Percy Jackson would be hella cute! I'd give you Luna Lovegood, but that's what I'm naming my puppy haha

  3. It's more of a cat name, but I've always wanted a cat named The Quiz Master from Patricia C. Wrede's "Talking With Dragons" series. Quiz is one of Morwen's (a very no nonsense witch who makes excellent gingerbread) cats.

I've always been out voted by my family all pets got "good" Irish names (and occasionally a good Irish beer). Since I've married, we always seem to inherit animals, and it's too late to change names at that point. :)

  4. Marley (Marley and Me) would be an adorable name, and she certainly is adorable. How about Perdita (the hundred and one dalmatians), or Kelandry (Tamora Pierce's Protector of the Small books) if you want something different.

  5. You already have some Mischief so what about a little "Mayhem"?

But on the character name front.....

Sammy (female of Sam) - Shiver/linger

Shiloh (author first name) - I always thought that Shiloh Walker's first name was kinda cool

Riley (from Radiance by Alyson Noel)

Bella(Twilight books....I've heard that it also means beautiful in Spanish I believe)

    Lena (Beautiful Creatures)

  6. Sorry about your cat.

    Dawwwww! Cute puppy.

Grace seems like a good name for her. Good luck finding something that you like, and let us know what you decide.

  7. Aww what a cute puppy. I showed the picture to my three year old and he said you should call her goose. No idea why but that's what he came up with. I like Fantasia.

  8. Wow!! Thank you everyone for the awesome names. I've decided to call her Chet.
I did come up with another name for her : Fangtasia.. Fang for short. Inspired in part by SusanKMann, and True Blood, it's also the name of Hagrid's dog and part of the name of the book White Fang. But since she's been named now.. I can't take it back.. especially since she's been answering to it lol

So Thanks again. There are some good names here.. and I kinda wish I had more dogs.. just so I could give them some of these names :)
